Discovery Series I: Cantata 77
Jul 2 @ 7:30 pm
Buy Tickets

Shortly after arriving in Leipzig in the summer of 1723, Bach composed two cantatas within a month of each other. The 2018 Discovery Series, led by Scott Allen Jarrett, Director of Music at Boston University Marsh Chapel and Artistic Director of the Bach Akademie of Charlotte, examines the two works written during this formative time in Bach’s life. The first installment in our series, “Du sollt Gott, deinen Herren lieben,” is a rarely heard piece and has not been performed at OBF in nearly 40 years. It also features the distinctive sounds of the slide trumpet.
